Name: Ray Goodwin
Location where you teach: Regency at Palisades, Charlotte NC.
TFLiving classes you teach: Full Body Fusion and Stretch & Tone.
Favorite pre-workout and/or post workout snack: None, in particular. Just some sort of caffeine, carbs and protein pre-work out, and protein and carbs post work out.
Most memorable fitness moment: I had a client who could only last 3 minutes on the elliptical trainer. In two week’s time, she went from not being able to do 3 minutes on an elliptical without handles, to doing an entire hour on a total body elliptical.
What inspired you to want to get into a fitness career? I’ve always been fascinated by it. People would always ask me, what I was doing to stay in shape. It feels good when people tell me they can’t believe I’m 50. It lets me know I’m doing something right. Plus, I just love the idea of helping people get fit and healthy.
Favorite post-workout stretch: I would say the Pigeon. It’s an excellent stretch for your hips, glutes and lower back. Also, Physical Therapists swear by it. Can’t be all bad.
Best advice for anyone beginning their fitness journey today: Stay in shape! No one wants an out-of-shape trainer. Practice what you preach and live healthy.
What do you love about working for TFLiving? They don’t micromanage. They let me do my own thing and trust that I know what I’m doing. They communicate with me very well! Also, many of the people/residents I’ve met have been awesome!
Fun fact about you not related to fitness: I was born June 21st (the first day of summer), and raised in Columbia, SC, one of the hottest places on the planet, and ironically I absolutely hate hot weather!
